Bogging Phazer Electrical Problem?

I want to see what other people think about this; I have a very strange problem. I have an 86 Phazer with under 2k miles. Generally it will run fine when it's cold, but once it warms up it bogs down. Oddly enough, when it's bogging and I squeeze the brake, the bogging goes away and it takes off. I'm really thinking this is some sort of bad ground / chaffed wire problem. Recently is has been bogging all the time until I squeeze the brake.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Any other thoughts what it could be?

Sounds like you are losing Gnd until you short through the brake switch. Pull out your bulb and try it again. If it doesn't stop bogging, then that's it, you just have to find the open.
 
I wanted to close this thread with a solution in the event someone stumbles upon it. I checked the driven clutch to make sure it didn't open up too early causing a bogging. The driven clutch was pretty close to spec, but the belt was well worn. I replaced the belt thinking that might be the problem. Well, it wasn't. 10 miles down the trail, the sled starting acting funny again. It was bogging badly, and then finally I heard it... A backfire. I knew at this point that I had an electrical problem. Since the sled would idle just fine and then bog, I figured it might be the TORS sensor. I short circuited the TORS switch... problem solved.

I still have no idea how the brake had anything to do with the TORS switch, but I will check a wiring schematic to find out.
