I have a 97 mtnmax600 and I am currently building a SX600 I am going to rebuild the clutches for both those machine and my question is this. The bushings and bolts that hold the weights in place that bushing I see has NO set screws to keep the bushings from turning in the service manual I have it show set screws when did Yamaha add the set screw and should I do this to both my clutches. Not sure what to do the housing looks good and not worn but if this is a problem and could develope I would just as soon take care of it know.

My 97 500xt didn't have the set screws but my 99 sx did. So i'm not too sure when they implemented them but I haven't had any problems with the 500 clutch.
none of my current clutches have set screws on the roller pin, just the weight pin. some earlier models did have them. you should be able to see a casting mark where they once would have been. nothing to worry about. somebody must have figured they werent necessary any more.
