a few years back i added a new extended brake line when i went with the highrise. brake as a nice tight feel, requiring little lever pull to activate. always ran my racebikes this way, like the quick brake feel. however, the lever pull does not throw far enoiugh to activate the light switch. i dont mind so much, but people behind me do. more of a safety issue. any ideas for a correction?

Which sled, or more specifically which brake lever assembly do you have?
nice pickup ding! sleds a 98 srx. stock lever and brake assembly. not the adjustable lever. i guess i assumed that since i was in the srx/viper category, everyone knew what i was working on. thanks for pointing that out. doh, on my part.

tried bleeding a little fluid out, no luck. anybody got any ideas?

Bleeding fluid out would just lower the fluid level in the reservour. I've never intentionally added air to a brake system but maybe try leaving the bleed screw open when releasing the lever and thus adding a bit of air and making the lever a little spongy. By adding air you decrease the boiling point of the fluid but if you're like me, extreme braking hardly happens to the point of reaching anywhere near the boiling point.

I seem to remember my '01 SRX having an adjustable lever but it ain't in front of me now to confirm. If so, seems to me this would be your only option other than introducing air.
