Hello boys,
do I ever have a story for ya's.
Last week Sunday I was in Slidell Louisianna at a friends place watching NFL Sunday on his big screen. He bought the NFL season ticket so I enjoy going to his place on Sundays to watch all the games.
During the Denver and New England game, my friends 6 year old kid come running in the house saying that there is a little girl on the hood of my car playing toys on the hood. Eventful and interesting as the game was, I thought I would get off my seat go outside to check it out. When I approached my Z, I look down the street about 100 feet and see a mother spanking the behind of this little 4 year old girl at the same time I was looking down at the hood of my Z and immediately noticed several deep scratches in a swirl about the size of the front wheel on the passenger side.
Without skipping a beat, I aksed my friends kid if that was the girl on top of my car and he replied yes, she was. Without hesitation, I walked calmly over to the house that this little girl lives with her parents. I was greeted in the driveway by the girl's mother. I told who who I was and that I was the owner of the blue corvette parked down the street staed to her that her daughter has done some damages to my car. She followed me over to the car with her daughter to look at the damages done to the paint on the hood. The husband didnt take too long to catch on and came over to where we were by my Z only moments later. I calmly explained to the mother that nobody is in trouble or anything like that but I am going to call the police and get a police report to turn into my insurance company. After her husband assessed the damages to the paint on the hood, I was not surprised when he insisted on "paying for a buff job" but I told him no I am going to have it painted through my insurance company and that I want him to pay my $500 comprehensive deductable. I could tell he was not happy especially shortly after I called the police and the officer arrived on scene, he explained to the parents that it was my right to chose my repair option and that they are responsible for their 4 year old's actions and supervision.
After the police report was filed, I had the father escort me to his house where we sat in the garage and signed a wriiten agreemnet that he will pay $500 deductable for damages done to my car. It turns out that that little girl was playing with a toy camera on the hood of my car by moving in in a circular motion. I watched her mother throw it in the trash can as I heard her mumble with anger that " I dont want to see this thing ever again"
The agreement between the father and I was in writing so I went back to my friends house to enjoy the rest of the football game.
About 12 hours later, after contacting my insurance company that evening, I was greeted with a phone call from an insurance adjuster who drove 2 hours to my place for an estimate. We went over everything very carefully and I pointed out that I will need a new hood sticker for when they have to paint the car and I want the entire front end repainted, fenders front facia and all. He didnt seem to have a problem with anything I wanted. I explained to him what had happened and told him about the agreement me and the father of that girl have. My adjuster smiled and stated that it is very nice of them to pay your deductable however, that girls dad will be getting a bill in the mail for the ENTIRE CLAIM!!!! I was shocked at first and knew I wasnt going to tell the father that on the telephone when I gave him the address and telephone # of the paint and body shop I took my Z to.
As of right now, the shop is still waing on the hood stickers to come in by the way which were about $450 just for the hood stickers. They have it all stripped down and ready to paint with the exception of them waiting on a few things like that. The shop is even going to replace my COMM ED. C5 logo on the facia.
The father of that little girl as of today has not stepped in that shop to pay my deducatble but you can rest assured that if I have to go in and pay the deducatbale myself, I am going to file a civil case and I am going to tack on the car rental expense and court fees plus the $500 deducatbe. If he does not want o cooperate by the time my car is ready, he will easily turn $500 into atleast $1000.
My Z is scheduled to be done this wednesday. I will keep yous's updated.
