99 SRX - I need to put the 4.5g new rivets in my primary, my question is, is their a way to do this without having to buy a clutch puller and removing the clutch? How do i get the allen head set screws off, to remove the pin? Maybe I should not bother with the weights and just do the spring? Orange/silver/orange and silver secondary. I am also doing 1 1/4" ripsaw out to 136". Dropped 2 teeth in the case. I tried to post pic's but my files are too large.

You will need to pull the clutch, to make changes to the weights or spring.

You can do it on the sled, using a grunt tool or a good strong friend to compress spring as you remove the three smaller outer bolts, but it is so muck easer to clean and service with it removed....

Just buy the puller and be done with it. Not that much money got mine from dealer less than thirty bucks. So much eaiser to deal with the weights when clutch is off

no disrespect intended to the above posts, but if a guys on a budget or does not have access to a puller, the weights and springs can be installed while the clutch is on the sled. pull the clutch bolt, pull the clutch cover and there you are. granted, these changes are simplified with the clutch off the sled, but i have made these changes in the field, clutch on sled, it is very doable.

Yes you can.And i have all the time.Stock springs do not need to be compressed to replace the cover. So the cover will come off if you back the small bolts off all together without a bang.

I even service my clutch on my 98 with the heel clickers without removing it and some of you know that spring is a b*tch to work with. all i do is undo the bolt, place a large washer under it and reinstall a little snug to hold the cover on. then i undo the 6 bolt covers and push back the outside sheave. even easier if it is all stock. like mentioned above. just make sure you mark your clutch so that you get it reinstalled in the proper place because the X's are harder to line up. then all you do is retorque everything ;)!
