i have what i believe to be the older vmax 600 carbs on my phazer engine. they have the idle mixture screws on the side (about 2 o'clock position). for a leaner mixture should i turn in or out. and for the phazer guys how many turns out makes them happy. thanks...

if the mixture screws are on the engine side of the throttle slide they are fuel screws ( in = leaner out = richer ) . if they are on the air box side of the throttle slide they are air screws ( in = richer out= leaner ). from what you described i'd say they are air screws so out for leaner.big-kid said:i have what i believe to be the older vmax 600 carbs on my phazer engine. they have the idle mixture screws on the side (about 2 o'clock position). for a leaner mixture should i turn in or out. and for the phazer guys how many turns out makes them happy. thanks...
awsome, thanks for the help...

ok, one more question. if i have the screws out 2 turns and it still seems rich then i should go to a smaller jet correct. i have 52.5 now. thanks...

Smaller PILOT (slow) jets.
Make sure you have the needles tuned first because when you lean the pilot's down it affects jetting across the board as well.
