help , how many studs in this pattern????

ok i have 4 studs on one bar then 3 on the next then four on the next then 3 on the next, and etc... they start from the left then right and so on.... how many studs is this its on a stock srx track i just cut all of them out and i dont know how many to order and i didnt count them all anyone know thanks for your time...matt
 
sounds like 168, or 192... I have to think some more..... but more than 144.... 168 my thought, but its late.....
 
There is 48 diff (bars) or lug widows or whatever you want to call them (if i remember right) in a 121 track. So 4 on 24 would be 96, and 3 on 24 would be 72, and the winner is 168!! Off the top of my head at midnight so cant be sure but sounds right.

hahah i just didnt know how many bars are on the track and i had already keft the shop so i couldnt count them...

how do you post a pic here i wanna post a pick of the pattern it doesnt look right to me
 
yeah but look at it closer, if i do that every outside would be studded but only on the left side...... would it be too many studs to add to both outsides.... that would be 216...

So you have a decent 144 up the middle but with a goofy alternating outside pattern. I don't know what you can do to improve on that one. Maybe fill some holes with silicone, they do sell it in black!
 
i am not crazy but will i lose top end MPH, with a hack saw or predator track??? i think that is what holding me back from getting one... will the traction i gain from a 1" lug be worth it in the hardpack and on the trail ... im so confused..
 
just about anything is better than the stock track. going to a 1" lug won't hurt your top end. either of those tracks would work. the predator will be better in softer snow and more durable. the hacksaw will be better on groomed harder packed trails.
 
What kind of riding do you do most of the time?
-Off Trail- New track, no studs
-Soft Trails (semi-groomed)- 120 studs down the center (studs wont do anything for loose snow, just need em to help stop on ice)
-Hard Pack (well-groomed)- toss new studs back in the original holes (just check your track often to make sure it isnt coming apart)

Just my opinion, I have never been a fan of studs, a friend of mine toasted a front heat exchanger last season in prime riding weather from a stud. I am not a fan of stock tracks either, unless we are doing drags, in that case turn the stock one around, lol. Rule of thumb is atleast 1 stud for ever 1hp, too many over that you start tossing on too much rotating mass and lose top speed, but honestly, how often are you trying to do +100 mph that a couple mph off that will hurt? (that also goes back to my dislike for studs, your track whipping around in the tunnel at +100mph with over 150 little spikes aimed at your buddy behind you or your cooler in front)...

Just my opinion, im sure I will amend it sometime after some other opinions are expressed...
