Piped Viper, Read Please

Hey, pipdviper, how do you know yours is 160+ HP????? That is awesome, but I always heard that sort of HP was out of reach with out porting or major engine displacement enhancement..........

I've done about everything outside of porting or increasing engine cc's and I figure mine is mid to high 140's for HP........

Mike

160 is probably out of reach for mine also. That is advertized HP from SLP. I called them to confirm what the Previous owner stated it had to me when I bought it and they said it should be ~ 163. I am guessing that to be high but it sounded impressive over the phone. I do know the heads are redomed but there is no porting or anything else done to the motor. I was thinking of diong more but I don't want to hurt my dependability.

I have a 2004 Viper700S and have Aaen triple pipes and clutch work done and I can get 110-115 miles on a tank with a bar left on the gas guage. I ride extremely aggressive and on the RR grades you can say I don't ride at 50mph

And I certainly didn't mean anything bad. I've seen that SLP literature with huge HP gain claims. Although I do think SLP add a lot of HP without sacrificing reliabilty, especially with head mod or such for more cooling. I bet our machines are real close in most all aspects and I for sure share your philosophy that modding is awesome up to the point where you don't sacrifice into reliabilty too bad. We want gobs of power in a sled that will also get us home safely, right! And I think piped Vipers get there handily. Nice sled BTW!~

Mike

mntvipermn....I know you meant no harm towards me or the sled. I figured 160 was a stretch. I'm not sure where SLP gets there numbers or how they can advertise them. I also am sorry to rellikclo for drifting off corse on his thread. I will start a new thread for this discussion.

Also to rellikclo....... GET THE PIPES !!!!!!! Just watch your local laws. I know NY state has a pipe law. My SLP have the quiet pack muffler so it's not obnoxiously loud.

Before pipes I was 13-14 mpg. With my SLPs I'm down to 8 mpg (about 90 mile on tank). There are a lot of wide open field where I ride and tones of rail, so speeds tent to by quite high. If I can get it over 110 mile on a tank, then I won't have to take em off. Fingers crossed I don't go too far with the leaning process. Lol.
