I just finished opening up all the windows on my Camoplast Challenger track to accomidate the anti-ratchet drivers I will be running this season. Do anyone have any suggestions as to the nest way to clip the track? I'm thinking vise-grips??
Also, does anyone know if I need the clips that just cover the opening or do
I need the ones that are L-shaped?
Thanks

get the right tool, it's not easy without it. hate to see a clip come off while riding, might do some damage.

Is it necessary that every opening be clipped. I noticed some unclipped openings on my track ?! Who's got the best deal on track clip crimper ? I have a nephew that needs some clips also. I wouldn't mind buying the tool if I can get some use out of it.
Thanks !
Thanks !

Spend the money on a good clip tool... you will appreciate the job it does. When you are done sledding forever, you can always sell the tool.
JR. Graham, Dennis Kirk... places like that all have the tools and clips.

only if you have extrovert/anti-ratchet drivers, stock drivers i only run every third, so if your stock and missing only a few i wouldn't worry about it as long as the rest of them aren't getting thin/loose and ready to come off as wellIs it necessary that every opening be clipped
A lot of guys out west don't clip every window and run extros. However, they normally ride in deep snow. I have never tried it here in Michigan.
coming from a mountain exclusive rider, you have only one major concern as to the question clip or not and that is hyfax wear. if you ride hard pack trails alot, miss out on the deep stuff, clip the track. if you seldom ride trails or hardpack, dont clip it, but buy some ice scratchers. for the price of clips and a seldom, if ever, used again clip tool, look at slp's track button things. cant think of what they call them. basically an elevator style bolt that holds the not clipped section of your track up and off the hyfax to allow some snow in there for lubrication. they work. or, your other option is to eye the hyfax regularly and be prepared to change at least annually, depending on miles logged. i hate the tedious task of hyfax changing.
