Im looking for the sleeper look and like to invest some money into my 99' vmax 500... Lets face it, 500 is a little weak when I ride with turbo sleds and modded 700-800's in my group.

Does anyone have any experience with this kit? Its $1200 on hauck's site right now and thats right around my max spending budget for the time being.

Any info appreciated ! :2strokes: :letitsnow

Your 500 is a twin, You will most-likely want to find a triple 700 power plant and go from there.
I used to have a v-max 600 w/twins and wanted mor power and was going to go with a 700 big bore on my 600 and was talked out of it by others saying that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be(lacked hp). Plus the triples are easier on fuel than the twin motors. Just my opinion.

You'd be money ahead to sell what you have and buy a bigger sled if that's what you want. The twins sort of blow compared to the tripples and the potential for power os better with the tripple as well. If you sell you sled, and take the $1200 you are looking to spend on the motor work, you'll be into a 700 class sled that will make similar power out of the box and not have the headache of the big bore motor.

Will a 700 triple bolt up in my Vmax? If so ill hunt one down and just do that.

I am looking for the "extra dirty sneaky" sleeper look so that is why I liked the 700 big bore kit because it still uses my 500 heads. I was planning on hooking up nitrous to it and telling people that it is just a 500 on the spray.

If I did go with the hauck upgrade Would the big bore not be reliable??

The tripple will bolt in, but you will need carbs, cdi, pipe, possibly wiring harness, and maybe something I've forgot.

As for the 700 twin, I had one for a while, and was way happier on my 600srx.

Like ryan said you'll need all the extra parts to make the swap. You could probally find a whole sled for $1500-$2000 or less and then just sell yours ? Unless you can a wrecked one for cheap and salvage the parts you need.

The heads WILL also have to be worked/machined to make up for the larger diameter bore. With a triple cylinder motor you will be firing every 120* as with a twin you are at 180* plus the triples run so much smoother...

I don't tell people whats under the hood... If you do and the wrong people find out you'll be walkin'.<- If you know what I mean.

well i was going to put the bigbore on the ol' credit card( been laid off since feb)Thanks for all the info guys! much appreciated. Looks like ill be saving my pennies another year and just keep rockin the 500

What about just adding nitrous to the 500? like 2 10 shots maybe 15's or 20's?

Any info on longevity for that these motors?

this could be very do-able for my budget but id like to stay in the somewhat "safe zone"

I was going to do this to my SX project that I am building but wallets a little thin right now. But I do plan on doing this later this winter or next summer. I know that a triple would be the way to go but the twins are very torquey in my opinion. Good luck

Yeah for sure, I'm still thinking about doing it. It sounds realy good going from 80ish to 130hp but it sounds like it's not all it's cracked up to be
