Startron E-10 treatment

So I'm reading the latest Woods -N- Waters and find an add for a fuel treatment to combat the effects of E-10 fuel. Based on thier claims, it appears to address most issues we face. The link for your reading pleasure...

I think I'll continue to use fresh fuel but may buy some for the small engines around the house.

BTW - I'm down to the last few ounces of pre-mix that I pumped in the spring that I've used all summer with no treatment (other than 100:1 Amsoil) and it's still fresh. It's been in the can for nearly 5 months and I know it was E-10 when I bought it.
 
I've heard of this before. Actually one of the snowmobile mags had a big write up on it and said nothing but good about it. I cant remember which one. might be worth having a bottle around for those back woods gas station fill ups along the trails.
 
i started using it this summer in the mower, weed eater and the chainsaws. so far i have seen some positive results. always used seafoam before, but that has recently let me down. had a couple saws that were acting up and after about 2 tankfuls they ran like new. dumped some in the sleds just for fun, havent been able to test results yet. only place i can find it is walmart. you really have to look for it. its not with the carb cleaners and gas additives, but in the boat section. saw a local yamaha dealer had a few bottles on the shelf now.
 
I winterize over 200 boats a year, this last summer I saw the effects of ethonal very visually. In the spring carbs were flooding, and corroding. Luckily we don't have many carberated boats any more. But as the summer progressed I also saw alot of moisture in the fuel. I had to change many customers fuel/water seperating filters. In August I started using, after much investigation, Sta-Bil for ethonal. This product is the "blue" colored Sta-Bil. I have had very good luck with the corrosion inhibiting, and basic cleaning of the fuel systems. It somehow stops the effect of moisture retention of the alcohol. I am now using this product in our sleds this year, along with my classic Corvette. I have not tested to see phase separation but I know it works with the boats especially the one we service with aluminum fuel tanks. These are the units with high quantity of moisture. I will keep you posted on how the Sta BIl for ethonal works in the sleds. Al
 
i stopped at Farm and Fleet and picked up a bottle of each last night. when i run out of the blue stabil, i gonna reuse the bottle for the startron. if you're gonna use stabil, might as well use the blue kind. plus it looks like they both has some type of cleaning properties as well.
 
fyi a friend of mine just did his haz whopper recertification(trucking) and at this class the focus was ethanol they tried all of the treatments and the startron seemed to mix well, as well as the regular stabil the odd part was the marine stabil just layered and did not mix into the fuel. hard to believe it is doing it's job if it dosent mix. that being said i have a bottle of blue stabil that is most likely no good.

I think they mention that in the Startron site about not being able to shake your boat thus making Startron the better choice. Again, a Startron claim.
 
were i work, they decided to use this lottery juice, along with there normal winterize lottery juice, (which by the way in my eyes doesnt work i spend the first couple months dumping bad fuel and cleaning fuel systems)that said, i added this to phazed fuel to see if it would do anything, and it didnt, i dont see how it would do anything, with shakeing it up i would of thought, the seperation level would have lessened as this stuff bonded with the crapinal, and not allowing the water to reatache the only thing i could not check was to see if the octaine changed. my veiw is its all smoke and mirrors! ill be able to say more next spring.
 
also remember anyone using absorb pads to soak up gasoline, the pads will only absorb the petro leaving behind the ethanol and any water, so the moral of this post is the clear liquid left behind may not be water but a flammable accident waiting to happen.
