There has been several questions on my signature. I have listed my sled as having 163HP. I have it listed as having 163 because that's what SLP told me it should have when I called them and gave them the list of mods that are done to it. SLP redomed and cut the heads, SLP pipe, silencer, rejetted. What did the '02 Vipers have stock? If I'm correct it was around 108 or something like that? 108 - 163 with only that done would be HUGE gains in my honest opinion unreachable. Has anyone had their sled dynoed with some mods done to it? What did you achive?? The only other known performance mods are the clutches were redone but I have no info on helix or what springs are in them. Please feel free to reply to this bash if you want it matters not to me I just want to know your opinion.

Vipers are around 120hp stock... Im thinking most triple pipe companies claimed upwards of ~35hp (advertised) gain at most with pipes and jetting... but I have been wrong before and I will be watching this thread...

Bender claims 162.2hp at 8700rpm with Ported cylinders, air box mod, tripple pipes and head mods.

SLP makes good pipes but with just pipes and head work without a good port job, 163 is a little optimistic.

i think i recall mr viper saying he could get about 10 hp with his porting. or something like that. i am guessing this hp figure was with triple pipes? i would like to do that to my sled. anyone know the difference in porting hp with triple pipes versus a stock single pipe?

When I bought my viper in 2002 I was told with the bender pipes I would out horsepower the srx ,Thats why I bought the viper instead of the srx. I was told 130 hp without the pipes and the pipes gained 25 hp But I guess that was just a sales gimic! All I know is Never trust a sales man!!!

I would investigate your clutching, as with the mods you have done, to make it run fast you have to understand the importance of getting it to the ground.......... If your clutching is off it don't matter how much HP you have..............

According to Bender, the stock HP figure for the Viper was 121.2 @ 8600rpm.
With a stock motor, air box mod and Bender's triple pipes, 153.6 @8700rpm.
Don't forget that the Viper motor has more port timing than a SRX engine.

Well I guess with those numbers I guess I should have trusted the sales man!

i have the crp pipes on my viper and just rejetted it stock airbox, reed spacers and stock head and it made a run of 149.6 hp with 88.36ft/lbs. im not sure of the exact BSFC but it was around 79 or so. i just got my srx heads in today and i am going to recut them for the weekend and i hope to get it back on the dyno by next weekend again. ill post my numbers again when i get them.

I am not a dyno guy (No access to one and not much knowledge on them. BUT, I am a do have an inclination to pimp people for information when they are knowledgeable about a topic. I have asked around a lot about Viper HP before and after mods.

I'll say, the answers you get from people are all across the board. I mean everywhere. And the aftermarket part manufacturers are not much help. I've actually concluded that there can be a TON of HP variance in 2 stroke engines -- even between engines that should be the same.....

One guy's motor maybe puts out 114 HP stock, another guy's will put over 120+ right out of the crate. Then you start adding mods...... say the second guy adds SLP triples and gets 33 - 35 HP added (The HP increase in the least that SLP states they will add......) Then geez, that guy would have a ton of power. Now say the first guy added SLP triples and got 22 extra HP's out of them. He lost even more ground. Big variance which seems to occur a lot. The more I hear and learn actually makes me thing 2 stroke motors can vary a great deal.

So then SLP knows this and just buys 15 or so Vipers and dynos them all. They then take those sleds and add their triple pipes and other mods. then they continue to dyno and tune those sleds until they get the desired HP out of each. Some sleds will start with more HP than others, and some will be capable of adding more HP than others. The ones that started with a high HP number and were also able to add a lot through the additional mods will be very high. I bet through these processes they were able to get their desired HP claims. Hmmmmm.

Can't you just see the conspiracy theorist within me coming out?

I have absolutely no clue what my Mnt Viper would be at HP wise...... I can only guess. My guess would be mid 140's -- maybe close to 150 HP. But I just don't know........

(Sorry about my ignorance on the topic, but I thought I'd ask to gain some knowledge...) Is that on a track dyno or a crank dyno?

Yamerdown- SAWEEET!!! I havent seen that list yet, I'll have to flip through it sometime when I havent had a few, lol...

Not my Dyno or my testing but they have youtube video showing connection directly to the crank. No need to be sorry the post get old and fall off the map.

As for piped Vipers all I can say is a stock motor SRX will play catch up. Fast but costly on fuel.

big power?

That 163 seems to be a big number for stock 700 bore size. Had iantomassi racing dyno mine last year. It's a bikeman 780 ported,Bender pipes, mega power head, delta reeds, heel clicker clutching, roller sec. Made 166.4@8600
Torque 102.1@8400. Iantomassi racing was very impressed by the numbers.

I know its not a Viper, my stock bore SRX7 with porting, head, carb, airbox and intake mods made 161.5hp and 98.0ftlbs @8600rpm.

Iantomassi claims 160-165hp on a stock bore SRX7 with their magic done to it.
