Desprately wanted a seat riser for my Viper last year, but I just couldn't justify the cost ($250 US from Excel). Anyway, my good friend (SNOWRULES) stepped up this year and said he'd build one from me. I knew he'd do a good job, but sh*t this is awesome! All plastic too so nothing will rot.

The build pics...

do you guys feel like that style riser makes you slide forward a lot of the time?? I was expermenting with my seat last year & thought it to be better to raise the whole seat.

What kind of plastic and where did you source it from??????
That looks great!!!
Plastic used in the construction is puck board (like from a hockey arena).

awesome job what kind of plastic howd you fasten i together????
Plastic is fastened together with stainless steel self taping screws. Thick plastic edging was heated in hot water so it could be curved to the proper shape. Rises and seat area fastened to the tunnel using longer stainless steal bolts through the original seat and tunnel holes.

I haven't used it yet, but no I can not see that being an issue as the Viper seat is fairly sticky. Possibly under hard braking, but that would be a benifit for me anyways. I'm an agressive trail riders, so I tend to slide forward and hang my a** off the seat for those corners.

Other problem with raising the hole seat is that it will no longer fit tight at the gas tank. i.e. you will be able to see under the seat. Plus the front of the seat hooks the tank so you would have to work out a new way to secure the front of the seat. Could be done, but not what i was looking for.

Wow, didn't realize the pictures were so dark. I lightened them up so you can actually see it now.

My son did the same to his sled last year. He removed it because of the fact that you are always sliding forward toward the gas tank.
There have been several members that have done this mod, some guys love it and some dont. Might have more to do with riding style and how tall the rider is.
Looks like a nice job! Good luck with it.
