Just got a question, how do you guys change the chaincase oil on your SRX, I know I have to remove the mufflers to access the dipstick but removing the oil and putting some new one in there I'm not sure how to do this, unless there's a screw that can drain the oil or maybe using some type of pump to pump it out :P Thanks guys.

pull the faceplate off its only 3 or 4 bolts and there is a hole on the body of the SRX that the oil drains through.... it all comes out quickly so make sure you have a bucket to catch it all.

There is a 12mm drain bolt at the bottom of the chaincase, inside the tunnel. Get a bucket underneath, remove the 12mm drain bolt, out it comes. Pullt the dipstick too to allow air to come in from the top so it will drain quicker (not that there is alotin there)

PS. Not necessary to remove the pipes to get to the dipstick, just easier and less cumbersome to work with them on.

OK, well I tought I had to remove the pipes to put oil into the chaincase because the pipes are pretty much on top of the dipstick, anyways not much space to work to get the oil in....
For the drainbolt, I do believe I found it, I think its the one close to the pipe hole in the bottom of the sled, a little to the left of it in the tunnel...its on the side of the tunnel I believe.

Not that I disagree but at first glance my first impression was that the pipes just had to come off even to get the stick out, so that's what I've done all along. Not a big deal because it's been part of the annual disassembly (yeah, I'm silly like that) and perhaps an '01 is a bit different?
Maybe I'll have to look at it a bit closer and I'm only commenting so that Yami600 doesn't get the impression that pulling the stick is a no-brainer.
Maybe he's a dense as I am but it sure didn't look like a cake walk to me.

i do the same snomofo, the dipstick may come out with pipes in but i cant get my big sausage fingers down there to do it! lol
Thanks guys for all the info and great help. I removed the pipes, it was a pain with all those springs, change the oil, clean the powervalves and adjust my alignment while the pipes were out. The alignment was a little tricky but I got it right I believe thanks to the great info on this site, about .2in toeout.
I got her out of the shed last week for the winter and put my bike where she was. I love my SRX.
