srx with ski doo pilot dual carbide skis??

alright guys... i have a 99 srx 700, i really need a new set of skis but dont have the money to lay down a few hundred for skis... i have a set of the pilot dual carbide skis off an 03 ski dont renegade 800 (buddy gave em to me and said if i could make em work i can have em)... i was lookin at em and dunno if i can make em work... i have the ski bottoms and carbides... ill have to get loops but was wondering what i should run for mounts... i dont know if i can cut and make my oem ones work or if i should go get a set off a ski doo and modify them to work? or what? ive heard they handle awesome due to the dual carbides so i would really like to make em work... any suggestions?
 
they make mounting kits for yamahas, dont think they are that expensive. i did it to my srx, handles awsome on groomed trail, no darting and like its on rails, but is less than desired when i get out into the powder, dont carve to steer very well. I do more trail than powder so it dont bother me that much, its woth the gain on the trail to me, but if you like powder they may not be the best choice for you.
 
sorry guys... they are actally the precicion skis... not the pilots... they have a plate on the top for the mounting, and they have the carbides on the inner and outer edges... where could i come across the mounts for the yamahas?
 
I have mounts that came off USI 301 Ski's that fit the Yamaha Spindles.They measure at 13 3/8" long by 3 7/8" wide..Inside spacing is 3 3/16".This help you at all.They may not work for them dual carbide skis,but maybe you can get them to work on the ski's somehow.Just trying to help ya.

if they are not to wide to fit between the nuts of the carbides,then you should be able to bolt these down to the ski surface.

i dunno if i could make em work or not? they could obviously be cut for the lengthwise issue but they precision skis have like a flat on the bottom that goes out the sides and drops down 1/4 inch or so and the carbides mount thru them... i dunno if i could just put some plates where the carbides come thru or if theyd have to be attached to the mounting plate also? how much u want for them mounting plates? these arent mine, and you really cant tell too great but those ears that come out the sides actually drop down a little bit...



 
don't know what to tell you.You'll have measure and think it all out first.I want at least $50.00 plus shipping for the mounts.Good luck there!!!!!!!
 
Just get yourself a set of Woodys Dualies or Stud Boy Duece runners and forget the percision skis. From what I hear they're not that great anyways...
 
them were precisions i used with one carbide in the center and one on the outside edge, the center one sets a little lower than the outside, i got the mounting kit right frome the local dealer for my srx, if cant say how much it was for sure cause i got them at the same time as the skis but i think they were like 40 dollars for the mounting kit.
 
Many have run them using different mounting techniques. Few have really liked them.

Some have simply mounted using the skidoo rubber and spacers. Others have cut the aluminum saddle out and filled with various filler using the Yamaha rubbers on top. Another built a sort of riser bracket.

You may find some old threads if you search on here.

Skidooboy, Dnale, TJ500 all come to mind as those who have done this.
 
As far as I know Precisions have both carbides on the 2 outside lips of the ski. I have a Formula with those on it. The Bombardier skis that have one carbide in the middle and one on the outside are all of the Pilot family. However as many know, I am quite forgetful.

sell precisions and buy pilots, they mount up easy, just push out 1 bushing on each pilot and reinstall backwards ,use doo bolts and yami rubber,your done. pilots are nice

ok so i did some research around and they dont make the universal mounts nor do they even make the oem mounts or ski bottoms anymore due to skidoo being sued by simmons a couple yrs ago for the copying of their patent or somethin like that... ok so heres the new idea... i brought my skis down to a guy that fabs stuff up and hes makin me a mount... hes only charging me $50 for both... so hopefully it works and i hope they handle as good as they are supposed too... cant be any worse than oem yamaha skis right?

I would go with Simmon's ski's instead.They are better.

Yeah they're a good ski but they're expensive and he said he's not ready to drop alot of $$$ on new skis which is why I suggested the dual runner carbides. I would recomend Kimpex Arrow skis though, they're reasonably priced and from what I hear they work wonders on Yammie 2-Strokes...

I probobly would have went with something else myself, but I get a discount on their stuff so the price was right...
