Opinions on a 77 GP440

I have an opportunity to buy a 77 GP 440 in pretty good shape? Does anyone have any specifics about this old sled? Is it a liquid or fan cooled sled? Is is a good project sled? What's it worth?

The 76 and 77 were still steel bodies , fan cooled , really close
to the same stamping of steel as a 73...wider ski stance due to some
offset ski legs , does have a nice ride compared to the previous GP's
as it has some suspension travel in the rear , involute track drive.
Not the fastest sled at the time as it really seems to have the same
engine as a 75 version.which was a fast fan cooled in 1975.

I have the remains of a 77 that was changed over to hydraulic drive.
the PR440 was a lower powered version engine and a white toped hood

This is a great all around sled, like a moose in the snow. Can be made to scream if you want. Sorry I sold mine. G.

I have a 75 a 76 and a 78 looking to get more; my 75 is bored to max with a custom pipe welded out by my bro off of an Exciter 440; she tops out @ about 110MPH on the ice drags with cleats; I've had the '76 since Grandpa gave it to me when I was a kid and will never forget all the memories from that baby. I've probably had twenty sleds since then but these are still my favourites; as long as you maintain they will be reliable for you. Word to the wise (ALWAYS KEEP "ALL" the NUTS AND BOLTS TIGHT) check them every 20 or so hours as they do leak (vacuum) that is on the lower halves of the cylinders causing nothing but terrible starting and running issues
