500twin going hauck 700bigbore

I dumped the twin for the tripple a long time ago. I paid 1100 for a rolled sx stole everything off it I needed and sold the rest and the 600 twin motor out of my sled. Ended up making money off the deal. J

i already got the 696 triple, i just wanted to know if the 500 was gonna hold together until im done building up srx. BUt honda joe says ill be alright and hes a honda guy so i know he has high standards for engine durability under abuse like me.

What is the reason for detonation in the twins, and what are the cures?? I have a '98 600 XTC, at WOT it sounds like the clutch is rattling but now i'm thinking it is spark knocking. I always use 92-93 octane & stabil ethanol blend additive- the green stuff. Is there anything to get away from the detonation problem with these motors?

Hondapower all the way! I race hondas at the drag strip during the summer hours to pass the time til winter hits. ;)! ;)! ;)! ;)!

I have had a 1995 600 twin, 1996 600 twin, 1997 600 twin that I raced for 4 years, I now own a 1997 500xt, was used for trail riding since new then I bought it and we radar run it and I have never had an issue of detonation or any motor problems with any of them, as for power,no, they do not have as much HP as the 700 triples, but, we run from 95-98.5 mph in 1000' in stock form, there are not alot of 600-700cc sleds that will run that! It is all in the clutching, gearing, jetting and suspension, it just depends on what your riding style is.
