Recoil Hanging Up

Towards the end of last season my recoil would not fully return when the motor was warm, but not when cold. What parts should be replaced in the housing or does it need a good cleaning and some lube. Using the emergency start rope sucks. Please advise

my sxr was like that to last year.I took of the starter off,put new rope in and wound it properly and it works great now.

What rope do you reccommend for a replacement? I don't want to put something to week and get stranded out on the trail. SLP sells what they call the strongest rope on the market but they want $4.20 per foot, WOW.

you can basically pick up the rope from your dealer.I just got mine from a local hardware store,think it is a 3/16" rope to.

It may simply need cleaning. The wrong size rope can make them do that too.

Mine was doing something similar last year except when it was cold. Cleaned it up and rewound it this summer with a new rope and it works great.
