I cleaned the Power Valves on the Viper last night, Very dirty, this is the first time I have cleaned. ( just bought) I removed and soaked for about 5 min in OMC Engine Tuner. I then took a 3M scotch bright pad to remove the residue. worked great. The engine tuner is designed to remove carbon deposits in 2 stroke engines. To remove, clean reinstall, and adjust took just over an hr. How can a person keep the valves clean and non sticky? Nos boy has said using ATF in the spring for summerizing, but what about mid season maintance, is it just better to physically remove and clean? What about the cylinders, if the carbon is on the valves it should also be on the cyl's, am I right? Al

the pocket where the valve sits in gets crapped up, you want to clean that out when you do the valves, but inside the cyls is generally sparkling clean if your jetting is on, piston tops can get a little build up, but the valves get the worst of it, in the end plan on regularly cleaning them. theres no real magic potion to keep em clean and each time you do them you'll cut down from that 1 hour it took this time

hey staggs... just curious... im about to go tackle whats left of my pvs to do.... what would you recomend using to clean the ports of the valves... Got my valves soaking in desel fuel for the past 2 days.... (does the trick but just need to let them sit for abit) but b4 i even start cleanin them by hand... i want to clean out the ports.... any recomendation... i looked around to see what ppl use but so far not much luck... just all info on cleanin the pv's

Just put a thin rag around a pencil and put the pencil in the ports slowly and pull the crud out towards you, do not push the crud into the cylinder!

like ryan said, you can also soak the rag in carb cleaner for the final wipe

No way of keeping them clean,nature of the beast they live in a harsh environment,you wana play you gota pay with PV's,,pull em and clean every 1000+/- miles no way around it.
When i said the cylinders, I meant the pockets for the valves. It really was not a bad job to do. I could not get the pockets as clean as the valves themselves. The Valve's look like new.
