i was want to put a clutch kit and helix in in my 2000 srx 700 this year. i do some ashaplt 1/4 mile drags in the summer hope it would help my times. just looking for some suggestion what to use. and what other people have had good luck with.
go to totallyamaha.com and click on technical pages. In there somewhere there are lots of "user" clutching charts. Maybe you can find something in there
Snow and asphalt are going to be 2 totally different setups..
Are you looking for a pavement setup or Snow/ Trail ? or grass.. or Ice??

i doubt that any clutch kits you can buy for your srx, are going to work for your asphalt setups. try contacting turk, yammiegod, jabber800, and valin. i think those guys might have the answers for you.
DV8 Aspahlt and snow drags believe it or not are almsot identical

ACTUALLY I FOUND THIS PAST SUMMER THAT TAR AND ICE CLUTCH SET-UPS ARE CLOSE, YOUR ALWAYS GONNA HAVE TO FINE TUNE IN SUMMER MONTHS WITH JETTING etc WHERE YOU MAKE LESS HP. I RUN A 2000 SRX STILL ON GRASS AND ICE SO THERE ARE ALOT OF SET-UPS YOU CAN TRY. ONE I CAN,T WAIT TO TRY IS ONE I BUILT FROM SCRATCH USEING 8BU-10,s. I,LL LET YA KNOW HOW IT WORKS. THEY BE FUN ON TAR. 3:16 (yammie tony)

They are close, But I didnt know if he was running snow trail.. then also wanted to run asphalt drags.. or what? more details needed.
Run hc,s with about a 52/44 helix or 8bu,s with a similar helix. With the 8bu,s run a lot of tip weight. Your gonna have to test. Stock gearing should be fine. Come out of the gate at 8100 rpm & climb to 8600 rpm at finish. Run a green secondary spring at 80 or a silver at 60.

8bu-10 work great with a helix close to a 48/42 / green or silver secondary & loaded up hard. They are a good weight for top end runs. Backshift is lazy. 8bu-00 better for drag racing. i played with 8bu-10 a lot & they can work well for long runs. Wish i still had srx to play with...lots fun & had a blast. Used to have a kajillion good set ups 5-6 yrs ago but just migrated into 4 strokes. I really miss the srx,s a lot as they will still smoke an apex on a long lake run!

i planned on trail riding this year. i know rail riding and and ashpast drags and two different this but i was hoping to use it for both. and i drag race in Grandbend Motorplex in Ontario. in full snow trim no real adjustments it runs 11.8s at 107mph. but the suspension wasn't set up and it was pulling the skis past the 60ft. mark. and far as i know the sled is stock.

bluemonster,
i thought you were just going to leave it stock, seeing as you were having issues w/clutching in the past??

mopar..you are right I guess.I had great results last season basically staying stock. My clutches were all rebuilt and sled ran fast for once.Yeah I will probably leave things alone and just ride this time around..if we get any snow that is.Got her up to 118 on speedo last year towards end of season on a plus 7 Celcius day.Wanna see how she performs in cooler temps then.
so i guess u found that hc are not good for top end .....u try many many things loll
