Ok I am beating my self up over this to learn clutch tuning. Red head 700 8ch 3.6g inner 3.6g tip w-s-w 3800 engagement 9000 wot. Add 4.5 bring down the 9000 wot engagement shim if needed to bring up from 3800.
I tryed 3.1g inner 4.5g tip and now it takes at 4800-5000. With same spring. I know now I should have not changed inner. But -.5g on inner made that big of diff. Am I on the right track? Just add the 3.6g inner back.

. No way no how will adding .8 grams to tip reduce rpm,s that much. Is this on a stand or on snow? Adding .8 grams to tip might reduce rpm,s by 200 rpm max. Please don,t tell me you checked rpms by running it on a stand in a warm garage or outside after a short warm up? You gotta check rpms at wide open throttle on snow!

It sounds like he raised his engagement not top end... Yes add weight to inner,, and test again.........

I tested on grass. 500ft And I know what it would turn 9000 wot from last year. But yes I did test it as far as engagement on stand after changes. I do have a gram scale but I got ahead of mine self and did not figure correctly and yes i did only add .8 weight instead of adding more. I would much rather learn how to do it my self then pay someone to do it for me. Any advice is help full.

From what I remember reading on here somewhere you can toss an RX1 helix on at a 60 deg wrap with stock springs. Change your base rivet in your stock weights to a 4.5 and keep the tip stock and you can come out decent. Dont flame me if Im wrong Im just repeating what was said before... Turk honestly is the man for this job...

SO I UNDERSTAND. YOUR FIRST POST HERE SAYS YOU ADDED WEIGHT TO THE OUTER HOLE AND YOUR ENGAGEMENT INCRESED ?????? THIS RIGHT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

No I added weight to tip and dropped weight on inner. Was 3.6g 3.6g changed to 3.1 and 4.5 tip. Now need to put 3.6 back in inners. No spring change stock w-s-w.

Just tell Tony and/or Turk where you want rpms to be. Those boys can give setup very close and you must only finetune it.

Tony gave me settings to my project sled and I am more than happy to the result.

If you want learn something by your self change one thing at time and make notes.

Easiest way to control rpms, engagement and max rpm is to change spring.
Spring values mean this preload= value for engagement. Total force = max rev

I put the 8ch with 3.6 inner and 4.5 tip and I think I am gonna eather put some bolts or get some 5gr from hauck for tip and try to get my top rpm down a little more that and add a engagement shim or 2

Again try spring with lower total force and max rpm will drop.
You are now using wsw long cover spring which values are 35-109

example blue silver blue is 35-101. same preload = same engagement

blue green blue 40-106 higher engagement lower max rpm.

Yeah that was gonna be the next thing to try I think I will go with the bgb it comes in kinda low I think

engagement shims also change the finish load on the spring. that's partly why you can't get the rpms down easily w/added weight....its cause of the engagement shims. take them out and leave them out.
