New SRX700 owner. Help me go faster!!!

I'm the proud owner of a 1998 SRX700. I want to go quicker. (big mouth neighbour has a ZR900). I know I won't beat him, but I want to keep it close. Races will be on the ice (I live on Lake Erie) 500ft. in length. Sled has VForce reeds, exhaust stingers, and Hauck clutch (owner didn't know specs or how clutch was set up). Also has adjustable transfer rods. So I need to know:

Gearing
Clutching

And anything else you can think of to make this a more competitive race. Next year I'll go big-bore.

Gear it at 19/39 or 20/40. Use 240 1.20 chisels. Not sure about your clutching but use what you have and see how it goes when you test and tune the new set up. Don't set the transfer rods too loose, or you may do an "end over" on the hole shot. If you get your clutching right you might beat him in 500 ft. Just remember that the race is 500 ft. only, not 600 or 700 ft. because he may drive right on by you. Been there, done that. Good luck.....
 
can i see a picture of your stingers? if you got the stock can-use that (it will be quieter but give you more & then if you want sound put it back on after.get a camo track & studs.sum heavy hitters & work with clutching from there with your springs etc.you aint gotta post a pic of your can but do u no what kind it is?
