Just got sled back all new clyinders pistons rings whatnot , whats the recomended first tank run 50-1 permix? im using yamalube for break in then switching to full synthetic , whats recommend break in time or miles? any advise be appreaciated ,want to do every thing right first time

I usually let the sled idle for five min then put on stand and run about 5000 rpm for a couple min keeping the heat exchangers cold with plenty of snow then I raise rpm to 6000 for another 5 min still keeping snow to the exchangers. Then I raise it to 7000 rpm for another 5 min. It usually only takes 20 min or so to seat the rings then I ride it like I am going to ride it all the time. I haven't had any problems doing this but I bet alot of people will dissagree! Drive it like its stolen!

ive always been told and it has worked good so far is to take it easy on it for about the first tank or gass to seat the rings. just not holding alot of rpms for any length of time, most engines like constant changing in rpms. with atv's and things like that especioally with big bores holding a constant rpm is almost as bad as winding it out for a long time, but i think sled motors are alot more forgiving. then ride it just the way you want it to be ridden from then on.
"if youve never been scared, just a little...you werent going fast enough!!!"

Not sure but not having a load against the engine at those revs seems like a bad idea. My 2 cents

From what I searched last year here is what I read and I did to 2 of my sled last year. Also I used amsoil full synsetic for the break in. I will be using amsoil from now on.

1. Heat cycle the engine 3 times letting it cool completely after each heat cycle. Make sure you get it up to running temp. This took me 2 days. Also do not let it idle keep reving the rpms not more then 3/4 throttle.

2. take it around the house and close by and run it not more then 3/4 throttle rolling into the throttle. I did this for about 3 miles.

3. take it around the house and close by. run it now rolling up to full throttle for about 3 miles.

4. Now you are ready to run it like normal. I still would do number 3 for the first 5 miles and good luck... ;)!

Would follow break-in procedure in owners manual,,,, varying rpm with no long WOT for runs for first 100 miles,,, short duration when you do... Break-in is very important... It can determine how long it runs before rebuild....
