Trying to change my transfer road, and i cannot get my upper rear wheels off, do i have take out the bearing retainer clip? or should they just slide off?

they are a pain to take off,but can be done.I put a large socket over the shaft end and whack it good with a hammer while holding the whole thing firmly.Eventually the shaft will start to slide and wheel will come off. Then slide the whole shaft out with the other wheel on it.Then you can proceed to remove that one similarly.I tried like some guys say to put the bolt back on to the shaft and strike at the bolt, but found out that you will deform the bolt head and a socket won't fit around it later when you are putting things back.I just removed my wheels on both my sleds a few weeks ago.Don't be afraid to wack it,it'll go.
or try this. stick a 10mm bolt that you hate and never want to use again in the shaft and bottom it out so the head is flush with the shaft. beat the head of the bolt until the bogie comes off the shaft. easier than holding a socket and the fingers seem to be happier.
Man, I'm glad I have access to an arbor press........

I use a dead blow hammer right on the end of the shaft, no deformation at all.
