I have a 700 red head that i am having cooling issue. I keep getting air in the system. Would it be from head gasket getting compression in water jackets. Or any one have any other sugestions where i should look. I hope its not a cracked jug.
 
Have you tried lifting the rear of the sled up and loosening the bolt/screw on top of the rear heat exchanger under the seat at the very rear of the tunnel? Did you openthe cooling system anywhere to possibly contribute to this leak?
 
I have tryed the bleed screw and picking the front of sled up. I bought a used motor that lost a heat exchanger and i don't know if it was over heated and cracked some thing. :o|

these sleds practically bleed them self's(very easy to do) so if one is having a issue with air you may want to pull the head off and check things out.
 
had the same problem last season......turns out the head gaskets were blown...simple fix but took us days off bleeding it before we finally cracked the head off and there was the problem
 
Sounds just like mine. Bleed it out 3 4 times still have air. Hope it just gasket, gonnna have to dig into it.
 
Maybe your (don't laugh) carb heater "co**" is leaking. Yes that's what it's called, just look it up in the micro fishe.

I had a similar situation. Motor was running hotter than normal based on level in coolant reservoir during normal operation. Coolant would be low or empty when motor was cool. Open cap and hose was empty.I originally thought head gasket. Replaced gasket even though it looked great. Bleed system too many times to mention.
In the end it turned out to be the water pump impeller. Splines where washed out. Replacement impeller had a steel splined insert in place of all aluminum impeller. FYI motor was a 97 red 700.
 
Ya mine pushes coolant it to bottle till it over flows. I think water pump is working I can watch coolant flow with cap off but I will keep that in mind. My other though was head warped.
 
next easiest thing to do is check the head gasket.

Did you put on all of your hoses nice and tight after the repair?
 
pull spark plugs. pressurize each cylinder w/ your air compressor. if you get coolant movement it's more than likely a warped head ( check w/ straight edge ) or head gasket.

Pulled head off tonight nothing stands out. Gonna check head at work. At least I have acc to mill it down if needed. Next step is to check waster pump.
 
Problem solved, Finely. Like I all ways say it is something stupid. Took water pump off found nothing, check head no cracks or warp. Started cleaning up to put back together. Cleaning head gaskets I moved it enough to bend it and found a crack right no the edge by cyc. So I just split the gaskets to 2 layer and put some gasket adhesive. Good to go.
