I use an emery cloth while the engine is running (belt off of course). I roll up my sleeves and slide the cloth (pad really) down both faces.

i sand both clutch surfaces(primary and secondary) every fall when i do my pre season clean/check. i would not suggest sticking your hand on the clutch when it is running thou, not a smart thing to do. i use either a fine emery cloth or a red or green scrub pad from an auto parts store. i then clean/wipe the surfaces down with brake cleaner.

just kidding i really do use this method have for years, a safer way would probably be to attatch it to a stir stick or something though for those who value their fingers

Clutches
Do not spray WD 40 or anything else on your clutches. Clean clutches with scotch rite pad (red in color) I would use electric Contact cleaner to clean clutches. It dries fast and leaves no residue.

So what i'm gathering is noone really uses anything to lube the rollers, weights or the sheave? Got it.
Also, i might try and give the inner faces of the clutches a rub down. Might help to grip the belt.
Thanks for all the input guys (&gals)!!!

777srx, dont get what spraying wd40 has to do with slipping a clutch while water crossing, but whatever
