Just wondering if the pumps always fail to put too much oil in. I had noticed my sled using a lot of oil last year before I parked it and the fuel milage was down. Just read another post about the pump and wondered if this could be my problem as well. Any thoughts. The adjustment is bang on and should maybee be slightly leaner on oil and still using oil.

My '00 700 went last year. I started using lots of oil. Didn't really notice any performance drop. The new pump was very difficult to put in with the motor in place. If I had it to do over, I'd probably pull the engine. There's one rear motor mount smack dab in your way and it can't be removed without dropping the track.

It could be bad sure but first try leaning it out, open the gap up more maybe 3-4 mil and monitor, you want to burn 1 or less qt to 12 gals(tank).

Don't you mean close-up the gap to lean it out? If you open it up it would dump more oil wouldn't it?

No....bigger gap less oil, trust me,,pulls the pump arm open less.

ya o.k i'll try that, I just remember it using about a litre (just less than a quart) for evry 2 tanks of fuel give or take a little. I guess I just assumed that if you made the gap smaller it wouldn't pull the cable as much so less oil but I was going backwards!

I had it around 60:1 aprox 40 litres in the tank give or take a bit to about a 1/2 a litre I may have my conversion off, Like I said it's all approx.

I know with those figures it would look like 80:1 but it's all an approximate but not ever was it usually 1 litre to a tank of gas, and it was last year. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of this sled but I'm learning a lot more thanks to this site!!

if you can nail the consumption down more accurately without approximations, you'd have a much better idea of what's going on... one liter of oil in one tank of gas is 45:1...

that's an acceptable fuel/oil mixture...

fill both tanks, run it (be sure to consume at least a half tank of gas,(to reduce relative error)), fill both tanks again, record volumes, calculate... do this a few times to produce better results, as you are then calculating an average...

tj..
