Does all the running wheels have change-able bearings?

Hi!

I know that the smaller wheels in the skid has change-able bearings, which is great. But what about the rear wheels (larger ones) and the upper large wheels?.

I have the front suspension removed from my sled so I`m not able to lift up the rear end of the sled so that I can check this.
If so, does anyone know what numbers the bearings have?

On some stock rear outer wheels they arnt removable. But for the most part they all come out. I beleive the bearing number is 6205R... But check to make sure that is the right number...
 
My 02 viper... Went to change the bearings on the wheels and they were not removable. Checked with the dealer and they said that that type of wheel was used on some sleds. They didnt know why yamaha did this but I ended having to buy new wheels and got them with removable bearings. I thought it was weird but I guess I may have gotten one of the few sleds they did this too..
 
I put 5.38 inch small idler wheels on my last sled. It really helped with rolling. You can service them by removing the small seal and stuffing fresh grease in with your finger.

If I was to worry about the rear wheels, I would go to 8 inch wheels and get a offset kit with 8 inch outer wheels that you can for sure change the bearings on and service

Thanks,do you think they could be aftermarket,someone changed them out at one time??

Thats what happened.... I should have known they were Pooooolaris wheels...lol.... :rofl:
 
I dont think they were changed out and the dealer did tell me that Yamaha did have wheels like that. When I bought the Viper it was only a year old...

My 2002 viper had non removable bearings also
 
Both my 02 and 04 viper rear axle wheels have non removing bearings. Thats why yamaha charges $74 bucks a piece. Was told if need replacing go to a srx wheel. My upper guide wheels also. When i had to get new ones for the o4 i found some at a local snowmobile junk yard with removable bearings. So must have just been certain years. Cost reduction maybe for yamaha maybe?
 
I know some guys have the wheels with removable bearings on there vipers and some without. More have removable ones though but it starting to sound like there are more fixed wheel bearings out there than I thought. I think it was done randomly by yamaha. I changed my wheels to ones with removable bearings, much cheaper to maintain...lol...
 
I bought my 02 Viper new and I think there was 7 of the wheels that had non-replaceable brg's.I just went with after-market wheels with replaceable brg's when the time came.Nephews 06 Apex had some too.
 
the bearings in the rear suspension are 6205 and 6004. They appear to be removable (there's a part number for the whole wheel but also for the bearing). The upper ones are 6004. If you check the parts list for your sled here:

you'll find the bearing size in the middle of the part number (look for the 6004 or 6205 in there).
