I have a 2002 viper and last year, while driving my fuel gauge would start to flash full or empty(when it wasn't even close). When it first started to happen I would shut the machine down and start it back up, and it was fine. Then it started to do it more frequent. And stopping and starting didn't always fix the issue. So i thought it was maybe the fuel meter assembly in the tank. Changed that out, and it still seems to be doing it. Any one else have this happen to them? Any ideas?

Possible rub through somewhere on the wiring harness. I would start there

Or a loose connection behind the speedo, coming unplugged! But most likely a rub through
I have ran 60% of the wiring and have not found anything, was hoping it might be something else. for the wire under the motor, what is the easiest way to check that? I checked the plug and that seemed fine.

Your best bet is to take the motor out.but it can be done without taking it out, its just a bigger pain in the a** . I had a rub through where the wires come from the stator coil there is a steel retainer plate that sometimes pinches the wires . Remove your pull cord assembly and check behind the magnito! something to look for before you go hauling the motor out! Did you check under your gas tank ? under your seat?

Yep, most likely rub through.
Yeah i just replaced my recoil rope, and checked the wires when i had it off. So those are good. I really didn't want to pull the motor. If i pull the motor, any easy way of making sure i get it back in exactly as it is? Clutches are aligned perfectly.
