My VMax had started to stumble on acceleration last year. I figured it was bad gas (no Stabil, shame on me :o| ) I pulled the carbs and dismanteled each one, cleaning them all. I reass. and it seemed better for a while. Then it started to hang around 3k on deacceleration. I would take like 6 seconds to drop to around 1500. I lived with it last year.

We just had our blizzard and got like 16 inches of snow. I got it out and it started after like 15 pulls. Idled great, accelerated ok. Here is the kicker...
When I deaccelerated, it would hang up around 3k again. If I tried to get back on the throttle, the engine would bog. Not like missing, not like track binding, but like electrical rev limiter. If I let it return to normal idle, it would run ok again.

I looked on the board and became a member. I noticed people having similiar problems and tried many of the things you all recommended. I checked the plugs, ok. I checked the compression, 120psi after three pulls, ok. I know I am getting spark, and believe the carbs are fine, cuz it runs wild when it isn't acting limited.

I then followed the wires and shorted both ends of the TORS sensor together. I did this at the advice of this board. WAAAAH LAAAAA. She runs like wild now...man does this thing go. I think it will outrun my Ski-Doo 800 MXz X Renegade. Seriously.

Anyway, many thanks to the board and all those that add information to it. I appreciate all the knowledge and willingness to help others just because.

Ride Safe.

This is usually caused from the throttle cable being too tight, or being sticky and not returning like it should. Usually and easy fix, I for one like the thought of my cable not being able to fray and stick wide open...

Your problem was definatly the TORS, it consist of the carburator switch, the throttle switch and the ECU. As you say you have just cleaned the carbs the problem is most likely your throtle cable adjustement. There must be a little slack on this cable, like 2mm, in fact the thumb switch should work beffore the carb switch do. Then if the problem is not over, test the switchs. Yes it is easier to bypass the system but it is one of the few safety system on the sled and is definatly there for a reason.

now that I have narrowed it down, I will definately look into the cause. I was actually thinking about replacing the sensor on the carbs to get it working again, but I will check throttle play first. Thanks again.

Sorry to say but you just band-aided the real problem, your throttle cable or carb slides are not returning right and tors is just doing it's job, what's it was meant to do,you need to look into this further, tors is a great safety feature that should be kept working properly...but it sounds like your on top of it,good for you.

good luck....
