Exhaust Outlet Snow Deflector do they help?

made my own years back for my 600SXR.After a major snowstorm here..like I was running in 2-3 feet of fresh snow,my sled was bogging and then goes and bogging and goes.I knew it was the exhaust outlet. So made a deflector that day and sled ran great in the deep stuff and no hesitation.

yes, they do make a difference. i prefer the factory made yamaha ones from the mountain sleds as they have a superior design over slp and homemade. yamaha part # 8EN-2194H-00-00. around $20 at your local dealer.

i bought a slp exhaust channel kit to channel snow away from exhaust opening its supposed to help prevent choking in deeper snow also came across this link http://macr.com/98_mtn_srx_mods.htm#SNOW DEFLECTOR shows how to make one , has anyone tryed any of these ? slp link is http://www.startinglineproducts.com/catalog.cfm?pageID=detail&catalogID=5&catID=39&productID=575

To be honest, the SLP thing looks liks like as much of a snow deflector than just the bracket for the Yamaha snow deflector.

Ive gone through three of them they always rip right off and are lost somwhere be sure to bolt on with washers to keep them attached.

I looked the other day underneath and notice the plastic belly pan is already molded into a deflector on mine. I guess you guys are going one step further...
