HYFAX wear !!

I have done something similar to what Tomseal has suggested. I made a set of offset bushing for the 4 bogie wheels towards the front of the skid frame and replaced the 2 small wheels at the rear of the skid frame with 5.38" dia. wheels. The offset bushings cause the wheels to ride 2 millimeters lower. This has solved the excessive hyfax wear problem completely. All of my riding is of the touring variety, 1200 to 2200 miles per trip through Quebec and the condition always vary from low snow to glazed trails to ideal conditions. With this setup, I can easily get 6000 miles before the hyfax even look slightly worn. Prior to installing the larger wheels and offset bushings, I installed the marginal snow wheels. They made no difference. I have used the setup I descride above on my 2000 SRX and 2003 RX1 with excellent results, combined 12000 miles on both sleds using this setup. I am rebuilding another 2000 SRX and will be using 5.38" dia wheels for all 6 of the smaller dia. wheels. The sled already had the marginal snow wheels on it so I will leave them on the sled.
