Just pulled my suspension out of my 2004 Viper ER with 2975 miles and the suspension bushings are JUST ABOUT GONE!!!! The UPPER W ARM and the LOWER W ARM bushings were almost unrecognisable and the shock bushings were JUNK!!!! The guide wheel assembly on the top of the suspension are $90.00 EACH!!!!!
I know I've replaced them on just about every sled I've had. So they were shot when I got them and haven't had to redo them. Of course I haven't put too many miles on in the last couple years.
I used pioneer bushing kit for my SX at 7000 miles and my bushings were like what you are saying...........I think Allen Ulmer has a kit for the proaction... do the front while you are at it..

Why did'nt you use ATF on them? haha! Sorry, I just could'nt resist. Mine lasted about 6k but I grease the skid to the point where it would disgust some people.

the shock bush i can see but the w arm and rest mine last,i grease before every ride, then every 3 seasons i pull skids and do shock bush..
The lower W arm bushings you can't grease.... Neither can you grease the shock or those gold arms on both sides of the rear shock.... WHAT A BAD DESIGN!!!!

do the lower w arm mod(add zirks)the others you need to pull skid every so often to manually clean rust out and grease 'em.nosboy said:The lower W arm bushings you can't grease.... Neither can you grease the shock or those gold arms on both sides of the rear shock.... WHAT A BAD DESIGN!!!!

Get some made for you out of Delrin. They will last along time compared to the stock ones.

Yes that would be nice, someone needs to make up kits to sell to the members here..make em little thicker so there tighter in the boars..BARON 8BU said:Get some made for you out of Delrin. They will last along time compared to the stock ones.

You should read Bethvipers writeup on tightening up your suspension, I believe it s in the technical section. Its very helpful and even shows how to make shims to tighten up bushings that are not totally shot.nosboy said:Just pulled my suspension out of my 2004 Viper ER with 2975 miles and the suspension bushings are JUST ABOUT GONE!!!! I took BTV's advice and installed zerks in the lower W arm bushings. Does help. I haven't tore a suspension apart yet that the front shock bushings, Lower W arm bushings, and the small bushings in the straps that run along the rear shock weren't toast. Before you reassemble read BTV's article, he has some real nice easy tricks. Soc

I agree, the stock material is a very poor choice for the bushings. I made a complete set of bushings for my 2003 RX1 using a phosphorus bronze material and an oil-lite material. I also added zerk fittings to as many bushing locations which did not have them. For every bushing location which had a zerk fitting, I used phosphorus bronnze. For all the other bushings I used oil-lite. I made the shaft for the upper tube of the W arm using stainless steel since the stock aluminum would not be the best choice with the hard bushings. The skid has about 1500 miles on it and the new bushings show no wear at all. I am in the process on repaeting this for both of my 2000 SRX sleds. Both phosphorus bronze and oil-lite materials are very easy to machine, as easy as delrin but will outlast delrin or any other plastic many times over. I am also making all the bushings for the front end using phos. bronze and oil-lite. I'll see how long it takes me to make 2 sets, I might be interested in making these bushing kits for TY members. I'll post some pictures on the site as I get the bushings made and start to reassemble the suspension.
