dual carbed srv

Back in 1991 I drove a new (91) SRV with the Reichards dual carb set up with there pipe . This thing was a monster. Fastest SRV I had ever seen or have seen sence . Pretty cool set up seeing those carbs setting sideways. Have seen the set up a couple times on Ebay.
 
I ran a Reichard Performance 38 mm flat side carb kit on my 1983 SRV, Aaen single pipe, shaved heads, boyesen reeds and porting. 100 miles per hour no problem. Did not have enough traction back then.

Another option is Back in the day.... we had the stock carb bored to 39.5mm, air box mod, engine shroud mod add a Riechards Pro pipe with jetting and clutching these sleds would move out and be trail friendly.
 
I got an 82SRV that i wanna get duals on...and yeah that steering post is in a stupid spot to fit the carb without an angled mount. Got a radar run coming up on the 16th and wanna go fast!!!!!!!

Dave DeLaughter build me a 650 big bore for my '84 srv: air box mod, clutching, big bore kit, single Mikuni 44, and a PSI pipe. The mid range was astounding, but like Silverrocket said, no traction with the old style tracks. Dave said he sent a lot of these kits out East.

I Knew of the big bores but, never ran one. Did you ever wonder what the MFGer's were thinking with the old style (smooth) tracks ?
 
Pitiful, weren't they? Even with my engine upgrades, my hole shot wasn't any better than anyone else's.
 
Hay SR540 NO I didn't see one in the mid 80's ,if I remember correctly it was in 91 when I seen that one, I remember because it was the last year for the SRV and everyone was commenting how that sled would be missed. But even in the early 90's the tracks were like a conveyor belt off a grocery store check out. The Vmax's would spin it like crazy even the 340's would spin them. I have a 3/4 inch Comoplast on my Vmax now and it was the single biggest performance improvement that I have made.
 
That sounds good, because I plan on putting a 1" track on the srv next year. Looking forward to a big improvement in all around performance.
 
I had couple of them little clutch work little porting slightly shaved head and a 142 main jet thing honked right along. Guy I bought it from and a few others ran 140 main which I thought was cutting it close 150 I think was stock> Most of the pipes just made noise you didn't get that big jump like you did with a Phazer pipe.

Riechards made the dual carb set up and they worked really well I never got one but contemplated it. That setup was better top to bottom and gave more MPG.

To get more range we used to buy the Artic Cat accesory tank and put it in the back where the trunk was. Looked totaly stock you opened up the stock trunk cover and there'd be a gas cap!! They held about 2 gallons I think and drained that first then drew down the front tank.
