Status update!!
Well, I was outside today working on the sled. I was looking at the tunnel, trying to decide how I was going fasten the strips to the floorboards, and the only things I was coming up with involved drilling/riveting into the floorboards...which I did not want to do. Then I started thinking about it in general, and after a quarter-life crisis!! I realized I didn't want my sled to look like a teenager's Honda Civic!(no offense to the guys with the lights). Long story short I decided I will use the LEDs for my golf cart which will look really cool I think at the race track at night! I think it will be much better for that, as the most it will see is a little rain, insead of being pounded with ice/snow. Another reason was that I didn't want to have to mount a battery on the sled, and I didn't want to extra draw on the electrical system if I were to hard wire it into the sled's power system. The golf cart has a battery already, so that will work out perfectly. Also, it will be far easier to mount the LEDs on it, rather than on the sled. I also don't want to start drilling holes in my dash for switches and stuff.
I spent the rest of the time in the garage working on setting up the skid for some serious weight transfer so I can hook and go! More useful, IMO. I kind of thought I should start focusing on performance instead of looks. Not to mention, it already looks really cool with the blue light covers.
Again, nothing against the guys that have lights, I still think they look pretty neat, I just realized it's not my cup of tea on a snowmobile.
