Still have an extra strip to put under the hood so it lights my can and pipe up.

ah... so its not overly worthed to do then eh... only place I can see it lasting is under the hood...
Hey blake, wasn't expecting to see you on here! ryanryan, they are coming from China so it takes over a week. I really like them though. Be careful with the wiring because its like 30GA wire. And you can only have the pos and neg on the battery a certain way. Make sure you silicone the wires coming out of the strips too. Yamahead, they aren't tubes, they are rubber strips with the LED's inside them. If you epoxy everything and use zip ties where you wont see them, it will last.

Sdahm... let me know how they last after a few good rides!... cause it sure does look awesome withh all that there.... But if it dont last... it might not be overall worthed...
I know my buddy used some on his atv... but he ended up shortning the curcuit... but i think he was using cheap tube lights.... My old man has some on his harley like the strips you are using and they have been working for a good 2-3 years now... rain or shine... only thing they didnt tackled and never will is ice...

44$... thats a good case of beer!...lol.... I would like to do it wether it lasts or not... but I dont have all that much money to be spending on stuff like that if it doesnt last... if anything... its 44$ towards spiffing up my engine... I polished my power valve housings and clear coated them with some heat resistant paint... if it makes it through the winter and still looks nice im thinking on sending in my heads to be done and so on through out the time to get my engine looking spiffy... ofcourse if my budget permits...
ride.race.live. I'll let you know how they do once i take it out on the trails. I've been out on my land for a few hours so far and they've held up very well. Only one wire came loose from a piece of ice under the tunnel but it was my fault because i forgot to zip tie that one. Hopefully they'll do the same on the trails.

Great sounds good! thanks!
ride.race.live, i've put on over 150 miles with them so far and i've only had to make minor adjustments. I had to relocate the switch from the side of the tunnel, into the trunk with the battery because the back of the switch couldnt handle the ice chunks. Other than that i've had no problems other than wiring mistakes that were my fault in the trunk compartment.
ryanryan, did you ever get yours installed?

I have used some of these and he's in WI. Comes to the Novi snow show every year. Headlight bulbs to LED's. Put his HID kit in the Excursion and now you can actually see where you are going at night. Factory lights are the worst I've every driven with(IMO), sad for a $54,000 truck. They have snowmobile specific strips for tunnels to take the snow and ice.

No, not yet!!lol, I've been putting it off for a while and riding instead of working on the sled. I was actually thinking about doing it today, before I read this post. I will try to get it done today, and hopefully take pictures tonight. I think I am going to try to wire it into the sled's power, instead of having a battery on the sled, but I will still have a switch installed so that lights are only on when I want them on and they won't draw power all the time.
nice... what LED's did you use? Doesn't look like strips. Do you have a link to them?
ryanryan, make sure you secure the wires very good. I had one break tonight. I think i may pull it into the shop and melt everything off and use twice as many zip ties. If you haven't mounted them yet, let me know how you plan to secure the strips directly under your feet. That has been my only problem so far. I may cut them off there because they are sagging causing the wires to break there.

I didn't end up doing it today, I just got some of it ready, like wiring up the switch and everything. I have to do some research on where I am going to pick up the 12V, but I will most likely use the brake light connector under the seat.
I haven't really looked into mounting options yet for under the floorboards, but I'm sure I will come up with something! I will let you know.

They were a kit that Dennis Kirk or JR Graham offered a few years back, the only reason I tried the kit was that it was only 40 bucks. They are the round puck style. I epoxy glued the wires under the floorboards, along with riveted strips of plastic, seems to work well.

Status update!!
Well, I was outside today working on the sled. I was looking at the tunnel, trying to decide how I was going fasten the strips to the floorboards, and the only things I was coming up with involved drilling/riveting into the floorboards...which I did not want to do. Then I started thinking about it in general, and after a quarter-life crisis!! I realized I didn't want my sled to look like a teenager's Honda Civic!(no offense to the guys with the lights). Long story short I decided I will use the LEDs for my golf cart which will look really cool I think at the race track at night! I think it will be much better for that, as the most it will see is a little rain, insead of being pounded with ice/snow. Another reason was that I didn't want to have to mount a battery on the sled, and I didn't want to extra draw on the electrical system if I were to hard wire it into the sled's power system. The golf cart has a battery already, so that will work out perfectly. Also, it will be far easier to mount the LEDs on it, rather than on the sled. I also don't want to start drilling holes in my dash for switches and stuff.
I spent the rest of the time in the garage working on setting up the skid for some serious weight transfer so I can hook and go! More useful, IMO. I kind of thought I should start focusing on performance instead of looks. Not to mention, it already looks really cool with the blue light covers.
Again, nothing against the guys that have lights, I still think they look pretty neat, I just realized it's not my cup of tea on a snowmobile.
