Took the wife out for a little ditch ride this morning. Nice day, snow was soft and drifted nicely. Just wanted to go out and shake the bugs out before we take a trip. I bought the wife a 98 MSRX as a early christmas present and she was stoked to try it out. Nice sled, lots of power, i was pretty impressed with it. She jumps on and off we go. 300 yards later she whacks a culvert , over the handlebars she goes. Glad i bought body armor for us over the summer, otherwise she would probably be pretty sore. Needless to say im happy she is ok, but damn now i gotta fix this thing.

The front bumper is only cosmetic and can be left alone for now. There are alot of people on here that will sell you a black bumper if you post a want ad in the classifieds or there are some on ebay.

98 MTN SRX... the bent radius rod and other radius rods and trailing arms all came blue from the factory on 98-00. I know the 98 was the only year for the black belly pan.

Get you another right lower radius rod preferably a silver one for a 01-02 SRX (but doesn't have to be) so it will match and you will be riding again. Nothing else looks broken unless the radius rod mounts on the trailing arm are bent.

That sucks, I've gone over the handlebars before and its not fun, you could probably just bend that arm back if you have a press, they are pretty tough stuff. We bent one back before in a press and it still works fine today. Glad everyone is OK and always be on the lookout for culverts.

Yeah the radius rods were blue. When i bought it they needed painting, so i blew it all apart, blasted and painted em silver. Ive got parts coming. Gonna fix it right, i cant stand having something all jacked up. I would rather spend the dough than have it look bad. Amazingly she is the one that is mad. She KNEW the culvert was there. But its all good, i needed something to do anyways....lol

alignment will be needed also.Check the tie rods also for a kink.Isn't it always the culvert closest to your house always the one you hit first.Nearly bit the bullet a few years back with a culvert myself.

my friend hit a culvert last year peeled the footwell area and the tunnel open like a tin can, if he hadn't been riding with that knee on his seat we'd be calling him stumpy now. glad your wifes ok

Today was the day. Replaced the radius rods, lined up the skis, replaced the bumper and repaired the belly pan.

All the parts i got of ebay, cost about 90 bux. Painting the radius rods cost me zero, (helps to work in a body shop) and the fusor i used on the belly pan was also zero. Pretty cheep fix!!

It looks really nice. Ya did a great job. I would still be bummed out about the scuffs on the black belly pan but it looks much better.

Happy sledding this winter and watch out for the culverts.

Was looking at the pics of the repair and ......

I assume the wife wears the pants in your family, if that 500 is the machine you ride.....or......it was you that crashed not the wife......

jk

No, actually the 500 is her old sled. The MSRX replaced that one. Im riding a #$%&* . Yeah, its green. :o|

Now go flag the culvert. My stepson luckily straddled one on his first ride last year. We had a long talk about culverts after that, and not crossing driveways in the center. Maxdlx
