I have a '99 srx 700. Riding today and everything was fine. Stopped to cross a road and when I tried to go (didn't hammer it or anything) seemed as though my belt went. Opened the hood and the clutch engaged and secondary spun but there was no resistance and the track didn't engage. When I push the sled the track rotates but once again no resistance. Thought the crank chain broke or the tensioner gave but I checked and all was fine. Any suggestions on what to check next?

It's worth noting I swapped the track last year and have about 150 light miles since.

Thanks for the feedback.

Did you open the chaincase?

if not try and adjust the chain tensioner if it goes in easy the chain is broke if not it could still be a broken gear in there.

That is what i would suspect if the secondary is spinning and the jackshaft moves but the drive shaft doesn't.

If the jackshaft doesn't move that would be the problem. (when the secondary is rotating)

Well if you have opened the chain case and visually looked to make sure the chain is not broke (I'm assuming you have based on your post), then I would check to make sure that your drivers aren't spinning on your shaft, after that pull the airbox out and you will be able to see the jackshaft. Look and see if is broke anywhere in there or something. Just go through and check it all out to be safe.

Also check the driveshaft and jackshaft to see if either is broken.

Basically look for the first part down the line that doesn't turn when the secondary is turned.
