Drivetrain advice needed...
I have a '99 srx 700. Riding today and everything was fine. Stopped to cross a road and when I tried to go (didn't hammer it or anything) seemed as though my belt went. Opened the hood and the clutch engaged and secondary spun but there was no resistance and the track didn't engage. When I push the sled the track rotates but once again no resistance. Thought the crank chain broke or the tensioner gave but I checked and all was fine. Any suggestions on what to check next?
It's worth noting I swapped the track last year and have about 150 light miles since.
Thanks for the feedback.

is the spline on the shaft end worn out and secondary spins around it.Can you see the shaft spin when you rotate the 2ndary by hand.?
Yes the shaft spins when I turn the secondary. When I took the crank cover off to inspect the chain/tensioner, the crank chain rotated when the secondary was spun.
with the track on the ground or in the air? you should not be able to rotate the secondary shaft without the track moving with it. look for stripped gears, broken driveshaft or spun drivers.bukmastr said:Yes the shaft spins when I turn the secondary. Maybe secondary is not fully closing (weak spring) when you slam on the brakes, and when you try to go again your starting off in high gear! Just a thought
When the secondary is spun the track does not spin at all.
sounds like a broken lower shaft. jack it up and take the chain case cover off, spin the track by hand and see if it moves the chain.

x2 on floader i have broke them before, it was also unexpected like your scenerio was. mine is a 2000 and i hear it was even more noted on earlier years.
If it's the lower shaft what has to be removed to access and fix?

Its the drive or kog shaft has broken in half.Bummer gone thru 2 myself hard landings when in the air.Remove skid, track, chaincase, replace bearing on speedo side and check the lower chaincase seal or just replace it while you are in there.
