Hey guys..My wifes 2000 VMAX 500 DLX tach stopped working. All other guages & lights are fine. I pulled & unwrapped the harness right up to the main split by the CDI box, & found only 1 rubbed through wire, "Blue". I repaired that one, but still no function..All others look fine. Is there a reset or another spot I should be looking? Thanks, Mike.

1-is the fuel gauge also not working??
2-is the battery charged and in good working condition??
on that DLX the tach and fuel gauge will not work if the batt is dead or weak or not in the sled,all other aspects will be fine.

Daman, Battery was just taken out.& not replaced yet..but, fuel guage was working on our ride yesterday. I'll slip the batt back in & see what happens. thanks, Mike.

On my wifes '01 DLX(same sled) thats what happens when the batt is down or dead. Some do that.

i know what it is mine did it last year,above the right foot under the plastic is the voltage regulater i think its called,that will fix it

Will be putting in a new battery this weekend, & diagnose from there..Thanks for the ideas guys. I will let you know.

Daman..Right on the money! New battery in..& bingo! Tach works again. We've owned many Yamaha's, & thats never happened. Strange how that didn't effect my "Venture". Both those sleds have new batts in them & are happy again..
