from reading on the forum i know srxs are hard starters. mine is terrible. when i finally get it started the idle hangs up and eventually comes back down. i have my fuel screws turned 2 turns out. my pilots are 42.5, when i open the choke the engine is way more responsive. so do i need to go bigger on pilots? also would a fuel shut off help with the starting?

something still isnt right, thats the right pilots,is your floats 13.3mm +/- 2?? carbs all within spec? stock sled?? any air leaks?? plugs buring good?

my carbs are all clean and within spec. 152.5 mains, 3rd slot on needle, 42.5 pilots. sled is lake ported with mega power heads. just put new plugs in last week.

thanks i will try that. would installing a gas shut off help with starting?

Just installing a fuel shut off itself would unlikely show any improvement with your starting issues. If you elliminated the"loop" in the fuel line coming from your tank to your fuel pump and installed a fuel valve to prevent flooding or fuel flowing thru the carbs when trailering that may improve the starting problem as fuel could then gravity flow to the pump when you have less then 1/2-3/4 tank.
The easiest way to see if fuel flow to the pump is an issue is to keep the tank full when starting after a period of sitting. Fuel will then gravity feed to the fuel pump because the level is above the top of the fuel line loop. AS a point of interest...2000-2002 SRXs fuel loop is lower then the 98/99s.

well i think i figured out my problem. i pulled the carbs off this morning and found out not only are my pilots 47.5 but two of the three were plugged. i cleaned them this fall but must not have been good enough.
