hey does anyone know how big of a bar riser I could put on a 2004 yamaha sx viper s without having to get throttle and brake extentions? I want to put a 4inch but didn't know if anyone knew if that would require them. I know undo the bolts and see how much room you have but I figured this might be easier haha, thanks.

2 maybe 2 1/2 inches. I put on a 3 1/2 and had to extend the Throttle/oil cable. If you loosen the brake line bolt on the caliper and twist the brake line it will be ok.

I raised mine 3" and need to reroute the cables. Any more I think would be too much for stock cables. Mine have little free play from end-to-end steering.

I put a 2" block with a powermadd pivot (total 3 1/4") on my 02 viper. Just had to move the cables around a bit but that is about as high as you can go without extensions.

There must be at least five of these riser threads going right now

The 04 Viper S has a single cable(at the throtle block) split into two(to the carbs and oil pump), which I believe is different then older model Vipers. This may be the reason why you can go higher with the older Vipers without extensions.

thanks super1c!

If you get the throttle/oil pump cable from an 04 or 05 mtn viper, they are longer and you can use the 4 inch riser. I have one on my srx with a 4' pivot riser and a 1' block riser underneath it. The brake hose is also longer, I have one which I couldn't use on mine because it had banjo fittings on both ends and my srx has a banjo on one end and a fitting on the other. Pm me if you are interested in buying it.
