Fox Floats on Mnt Viper

Believe it or not the Ohlin I used is the stock SX/SRX front shock which is 13.5 inches, my SXr centre shock is 13" c-c. Mounted in the skid the ohlin isn;t bottomed out when on the rail bumpers.
For you PRO MNT suspension owners the 2010 Nytro Mnt has Fox Floats

Hey Dirtjumper and Nicko!!!!!

I have not had it out for too long a ride yet -- lack of snow. But I have managed to tear up the yard nicely riding around. As soon as the trails open I'll post some about how she handles.

Carver set the Floats at 75 psi to start, but for off trail that seems a bit high. May have to decrease psi.

How are you guy's projects coming along? Dirtjumper: what swaybar was I gonna install??????? Have I lost my mind??????? my memory is failing!

Let's all do some riding as soon as it snows up the shore!!!!!!!!!
 
Well i have my motor apart right now, had a little coolant leak. I dont have the front swaybar on my sled, did you put one on, or did it come stock on all MTN Vipers?

Im heading back up to the U.P. on the 25th for 5 days with some buddies to try and get some good riding in.

Congrats on ripping up the yard, i went out on Fish Lake the other night to try and find a little snow, not much out there... I did manage to tear my yard up some too until i noticed my coolant leak.

I don't have a front sway bar -- I don't think any of them did. Am I misunderstanding the question??????


Sorry about the coolant leak.... Leaky head gasket???????

Yep, your sway bar is attached..


My coolant leak was a bad oring on my speedwerx billet head... I think i got it fixed though, ill see next time i ride it. Atleast it was leaking coolant out of the motor and not into the motor so overall i was pretty happy.

Hey thanks guys for pointing that sway bar out! I see which one you guys mean... Why would anyone remove that? To save weight? I'm suprised mine are still on there, as the prior owner a few years ago removed all sorts of miscellaneous parts to save weight. Are you going to re-install yours Dirtjumper or was your Viper originally a shorty?

When Gordy first installed my Peak head on mine he re-used the o-rings. That was not good as coolant was slowly welling up and spraying all over my engine compartment. I could have blown up my sled because of that, but luckily I noticed early. I guess those o-rings have to be replaced with new each and everytime you remove/re-install those aftermarket heads. But those o-ring kits are real expensive, like $25-30 bucks a piece. Is that what happened to yours? I'd just procure a new kit for install....

I'm heading up the North Shore Fri. - Sunday to go see the in-laws for Christmas. I'm bringing the sleds. I hope it snows and snows and snows!!!

Im running my front FLOATS at 60psi. I would invest in a set of the covers to keep ice off of them if I was you. All it takes is 1 chunk of ice on the lower shaft to wipe out the seal. Also don't forget to take your air pump along in case you want to make adjustments.

Well i tried reusing the orings this second time (they looked good????) lol and it leaked coolant even worse. My first coolant leak ended up being a loose hose, not the head at all.... So now i need to get a Speedwerx oring kit up to the UP of Michigan ASAP!
 
Official snow levels here were 24++ inches, give or take a little provided for your location. I was riding from Silver Bay to Lutsen with Arteeex. I had my Mnt Viper and he rode his Nytro RTX. We were breaking new trail all day long. Trails were rough, but was awesome!

The Floats handled sweet!

The Float 2's are the real deal......... There were lots of hidden objects under that deep snow. They dampened the blows of hitting objects a lot better than the stock KYB's did -- and I have the Floats pumped up to a relatively high PSI right now -- like like 70 - 75 PSI. I'm going to lower them to 60 for next ride and try them like that for a ride and compare.

I just installed SRX Ohlins in place of the Fox Floats I have and the fox is plusher so far. I'll soften the Ohlins up a bit and try again on my SXr 162

I'm still working on the rear shocks, long story but I am......

I really like what Gild did with his Rear Mnt Pro Action suspension -- it seems like a fantastic set up.

But I am still looking for replacement shocks for my rear skid. I'm aiming for boon docking/off trail performance -- the most transfer and ski lift possible (and getting that suspension to float with the terrain/powder as best I can).... Any one have any ideas???????

I backed out on buying the Ohlins from Carver as he wanted an astronomical sum for the rear and center shock replacements --- his plan was he was going to custom make them from RX1 Mnt Ohlins shocks and re-spring/revalve them for the lighter weight of the Mnt. Viper.

So for the rear suspension I'm back to square one.......

But I love my front Fox Floats and would prefer them.... Anybody have and ideas in procuring replacement shocks that would fit in my Pro Action skid and replace the crappy steel bodied KYB's currently in there?????? I just don't know where to go and while he does fantastic work, I'd break the bank going to Carver for the rear shocks --- but his work on my front shocks was really good, everybody should know that!!!!!!!!

i thought the difference between the Floats and the Floats 2, was that the 2s had more air volume and everything else was the same?

do you know what the eye to eye distance is?
