How do you know if your slides are worn out

How do you know when your slides are warn out...I thought it was if you could slide a 1/2 inch wrench over your slides there time for replacing...???
If that's the case Mine need replaced :-(
 
run a 10mm wrench across the slides. If you have play between wrench & slides time to replace...generally speaking.
 
There is a line running the length of the Yamaha slides that I believe is suppose to be your wear limit indicator.
NOt sure if the 10 mm wrench trick will work with aftermarket slides? As the top portion of aftermarket slides may have a different thickness?? But dont quote me(famous last words)
 
well i do know that the wrench trick works on kimpex slides as that is what has been on my sled for the last 3 seasons. might get 4 out of them.
 
I'm pretty sure they just mean, put an open-end wrench over the side of the slide and if it fits, they need to be replaced. Your basically just measuring the thickness of them.

Yeah, that's what I did with mine. Seems to help when driving on hard pack or crossing ice. Also, its real easy to check how much you have left on your slides. I find the SRX's wear really fast to a certain point then slow down.
 
just wait until the sparks come out from your track. Then you don't even have to remove the old ones before installing new ones :-)
