A friend has an '05 Mach z 1000cc. He is a big guy though at about 280lbs. Says an SRX wouldnt stand a chance either in a short run like 600-1000ft or top speed. I believe the top speed part. If the lake is long enough he would definately walk the Yammie down but what about out the hole?
others will correct me but i think he will get the holeshot but you will be in front at 600' with proper clutching and studs/traction.

Just wait till that big SDI twin is blown up on the side of the trail, then you'll have no problem passing him. Fast yes, reliable no. Those guys with 1000 Machs and Gades are already into rebuilds, re-ringing, etc and those things aren't even 5 years old yet.

Nothing like being the under dog + takin down the loud mouth Giants!!
I have not seen a SDI 1000 Mach yet that has performed like a 1000 shud. We rode with a couple Machs a few years[they are now both dead...Cranks] Their legs weren't bad but my 2002 SRX had no problem with them 1000' + under...our 700SX improver cud beat them everywhere!

Yeah i have a buddy that owns one and i beat him with vmax4 first time out,Man did he freak out when i beat him, I did the same with my stock srx and yammiegods 8bu setup last year. He had a stock track then, He has bought a ripsaw with my advice,i didnt get to try him again after that, blew the srx up when i drilled the top of airbox and didnt jet up.Havent had a chance this year either, the mach blew up and he is slow to get it fixed,CANTWAIT to see what happens,Especially that i now have a secret weapon.

Last year I raced a buddies 05 mach 1000 on a lake in parry sound Ont, I was all stock 1998 srx with 11000 kms, with hacksaw 1 inch track and 144 , 1.075's down the middle, and an 8bu set up. He had 192 picks and supposedly 170 plus hp, and a can. I took him about three sleds off the start and ran the lake, about 2-3 miles and he was just starting to appear at the end, he was pissed , called me a liar saying i had alot of work done, blah blah blah, then he blamed it on his drive belt, said it was worn, he changed it, and away we went again, I was about a sled length this time out of the hole and at the end we were about even, this year he's all ported, heads cut clutched, piped, race gas only..... ands wants to race again, I guess its off to mr viper for some minor ajustments!!!

The 1000 SDI is fast and gets incredible gas mileage but is a ticking time bomb.

What I don't understand is why after the 800 SDI backfired on them (probobly literally) they went ahead with an engine 200cc bigger.....
I wonder if they come out with an 800 E-Tec if they'll remember to have the case liquid cooled.
OHHHH Ski-Doo......what crazy things will you think of next.....

my good buddy is in the process of building an 05 mach that he got in pieces. he has done a bunch of research on it and the big problem with those motors is that the fuel lift pumps fail and then the fuel pressure drops and it goes lean. and there is not enough oil being injected into the right areas for lubrication and they get lots of wash underneath the piston and stuff. plus the power valves are so friggin finicky that they have to be adjusted all the time. hes gonna have his work cut out for him and as much as i hate poo's lol it should be a nice ride. i think i can hang with him for a bit with my viper but time well tell lol
