97 sx 700 CAN'T GET THE STUPID SLED RUNNING "NEED HELP"

if they find the problem be sure to let us know what it was, so it can be suggested in the future if someone has similar issues. i didn't reed the whole thread but did you check the reads

I remember watching my bad stator being tested, the mechanic had it on his bench completely off the sled, hooked up the tester leads and it looked fine, bang on the bench next to it and HELLO, the numbers jumped all over the place

This was one where when it got warmed up and you shut the sled off, you had to let the sled cool down before it'd start again.

Your slippin' Staggs. Their, fixed it.

well guys i know your going to tell me i told you so but i brought it to a local mechanic and he did a bunch of testing to the sled and he called me and told me that it was the secondary coil winding on the stator that was bad and he said he was about 95% sure that, that is what it was. now the question is do i fix it or part it because i don't want to stick that much money in to it if he is not for sure.

Is it worth it in your mind to fix it? Only you know for sure. I have a 95 Vmax that I have dumped $1400 into in the past two years, I bought it for $800. It is only worth something to me if its running, I can sell it easier this way as opposed to the long process of parting it out. I would fix it and ride it or sell it, but thats just me.

to fix or not to fix

I would get it fixed and sell it to your dad for $100.00 on the payment plan!
lol, Yes, I am his dad!!!!!!!!!!!

well guys it runs the stator did it still don't know how i missed it twice and yamaha dealer missed it once but my nightmare is all over with thanks for the info happy ridding. thanks again josh
