I am reletively new to this and am wondering if anyone has ever come across a situation like mine. I had a mechanic friend do the pre season maint. on my 2002 SXVIPER 700 triple and when he started to take the power valves off to clean them, the first screw came off, the second snapped. The third snapped and he stopped. He told me that he is going to have to bore the screws out at another date and its a big job. That sucks but my question is to see if anyone has any understanding why the screws might not be coming out as easy as they should and what I can do in the future to avoid this after my costly repair. I bought this sled last year with 2000km and it is extremely clean. But appears that the valves have never come off.
Thank you
Thank you

Soak the remaining screws with penetrating oil. Depending on where the snapped, yo might be able to grab the remaining length of the screw with a vuse grip pliers. Apply some heat to warm up the aluminum parts, or just run the engine and keep hitting the screws with a penetrating oil. Which screws snapped, the screws on the top cap (2 screws) or the screws on the part which holds the valve seal and the guide? Post some pictures. I have never heard of these screws snapping, they must be siezed into the aluminum.

x2 I have never heard of these screws snapping either,he should have stopped at the first one snapped and felt.. the rest, one can take a no.O brazing tip and gently, slowly warm the pv housing i have done that before.
use anti-sez when putting back together.

Heat, penetrating fluid, and tapping with a hammer while turning [and lots of patience!!!] should have worked with a tough steel fastener in aluminum...but I guess its too late for that now. I got the exhaust studs out of my 74 911 cylinder heads that way and they are the worst I've every had to remove on anything!
