I was out riding today and the plastic tip on the rail fell off and put the rail right through the track. Ripped the whole side outta the track#$%&* .I managed to haul the rail outta the hole but the track jumped the rail, now it is jamed between the drivers and the chasis. Think I may have screwed my chaincase also#$%&* .I am going to cut the track off and see what damages I have done. This happen to anyone else? Pretty costly mistake on a brand new track #$%&* ! I was doing 90 mph when the sled locked up solid, throwing me over the handlebars. Its a good thing it never happened the night before when I was 50 miles from the nearest cabin! Would have been a cold wet walk home:brr

Ouch!! If it's any consolation I'm glad you are still around to tell us what happened.

X2........that sucks man. Did the rivit in the plastic cap snap off???

Track

My son did that last weekend....not going as fast..about went over the bars. Had to cut the track. Now we are re-clipping an old one and salvaging studs....It sticks!!

Track was tight enough? No weired noises before it let go? Thats to bad,, so sorry, How many miles on track......

2 years ago I was riding one of our 144" SXs off trail coming down a hill in the deep snow when I speered the track with a rail. I went right over the bars[fortunately I was standing up] and landed 15 feet in front of the sled with my back to it.
We pulled the track back and found about 5 clips ripped thru. I had to nurse the sled 50 miles home with a big chunk of track flapping.
The 1 1/4", basically new, 144" full clip ripsaw was toast!
Had to buy my son a new 1 1/2 x 144"...OUCH$$$.

Since that day all my rail tips are bolted + blue locktighted in place!

1 season i had put a new track on , month later drove over a tree that had fallen across trail. Speared rail through track. Put old track back on, month later rail cap rivet broke off and there i went flipping over the bars and landing infront of sled. It took off every track clip until it finally shanked it. Put a ripsaw on it and its lasted thank god, now just put an 1.5" ripsaw on , and can't wait to try it out.

Wow....I was going through post came up on this one....that really sucks, how are you doing on putting it back together? I have never really payed much attention to the rail tips but tomorrow I am heading out to the garage, before I go riding this weekend and I am bolting the tips on!!!!!!!!

I am ordering my new track and tip tomorrow morning, everything is hauled apart the chaincase was smattered! Thankfully I have 3 spares in the garage . I guess the bearing doesn't like that much of binding! I never bent my rails , I dont know how it never, but they are straight.Screwed my chain tensioner, lucky I have 3 of them also! Going 2" now instead of 1.75 hopefully I will be riding by New years! Snowing like crazy up here tonight, all the lakes are frozen and the cabin scene is rockin. I know i will regret this but a Bombardier super wide, towed me to my cabin. I know a bombardier should never tow a yammi, where I started my super jag I know I should never ride an Arctic Cat LOL and took a poundin on the way home LOL.. Good ol leaf spring suspension!
