Gearing up on top gear

I ran 110 on radar in a 1000ft with the stock gearing with speed track and picks and speedo read about 4-7 mph higher can't remember. With the stock track and 192 trail studs it ran I believe 96 and speedo ran 115 in a 1000ft.Across the lake with the stock gearing and trail studs the speedo would go about 1" past 120mph in the right condition's with clutching and modified airbox.

Gearing

I have had alot of trials & errors with gearing. It all started for me back in 95 with a 96 Formula Z. I was being beat all day every day by a 94 EXT 580. On a suggestion form some coworkers. I geared it up one tooth (to make it faster according to them). Well, the Z was much slower. I read some articles on gearing and deciced to gear it down 1 tooth (from stock). low and behold I was beating the EXT, but was starting to over tach. I had to change weights (pin weight) to make up the difference. After getting the RPMs down to what it should have been (7800) My sled was starting to compete with MXZ 670's. I was actually running faster top end speed. Now jump to the Now. My 2001 SRX 700 has a 21t top gear. I also have the Extrovert drive sprockets and the extra wheel set for the bend in the rail. My SRX on a RAdar gun runs 121 mph in a one mile stretch (with a stock engine). I don't what its worth, but that is my dealing with gearing. I always gear down. Works for me! :yam:
