yes you confused me. I just rebuilt the top end 70 miles ago. We were running this for the last 2 days and no problems at all except alot of fuel being used. Why you say cylinder is gone?
JK, I would say that the left plug in the first pic is just on the verge of being too lean and the right plug is showing some particulate build up which probably means that one leaned out and burned the top of the piston or the ring land area. I would take the head(s) off both cylinders and take a good look at both. If one is blown the other probably is not far behind. Did you do a compression test on either cylinder? Should be 120+ psi in both.

because of the gray build up on right plug that is a good sign of a cylinder piston grinding together, sorry jk youll have to open it up and find out, did you run fresh fuel or last years mixed with fresh? did you clean carbs before running fresh top end? did you run double oil?
The particles on the one plug are pieces of the motor. So you either didn't change the plugs after burning it down the last or you have hurt the motor again.
The other plug is boarderline lean looking at the pics. Any colder and you'd probably have issues.

to add to Bandits post
You want to see the center elctrode of the plug to be just silver on the outside edge with a darker to blackish center "core" on it, the ground strap you want burned about halfway back to the curve and the porcelin part to be a nice cardboard brown finish to it.
his plugs are on the rich side, post your carb settings...

Well the colors all depend on what the temps the readings were taken at, if it was above 20* the the darker the better-right?daman said:You want to see the center elctrode of the plug to be just silver on the outside edge with a darker to blackish center "core" on it, the ground strap you want burned about halfway back to the curve and the porcelin part to be a nice cardboard brown finish to it.

Because if you ride when its below 0* then you would be really lean and more susceptible to a burn down- right?
I always jet on the rich side for the reason if I set spot on at 20* and ride when it's 0* then I'm taking a chance on really lean jetting. Just trying to leave him some margin of error. he also has another post about his sled sucking fuel that may be because the one cylinder went away and was just dragging it along.

u r right also....
The plug i discribed is on the sparingly, lol side(has room for night time droping temps)

You're okay... I just don't want him to go WAY lean, pop another motor and then complain that he did what he was told, thats all.

Thanks for the help guys. Yea this don't make sense. It has 89 grade gas with fresh gas only. I never use old gas. The sled is all stock. clip in the middle with the washer where they need to be.
I am not sure what to do now. It just sucks and hopefully it stays to together till the end of the year.
Did comp test. 135 and 110
I just checked the reeds, carbs, and belts. All good I don't see any problems there.
Not good they are way off......

no it does not load up it runs fine.
I am not to sure on what the wash looks like because we did not pull the head yet. I am going to go for another run and check everything again.
I am not the one riding it. I am on my viper and he keeps me updated with what is going on while riding and when we get home or stop.
We are going to check everything again tom and hopefully we have better results.
I just don't understand why this sled just won't be happy...lol
I did see in the center top of the piston ( the circle) half of that is gone toward the exhaust.
Also the oil use matches the gas usage.

so the the sled runs fine i read just uses lots of fuel???
run the sled through out each circut, low, mid, top for 6-700 feet etc reach over with your left hand and kill the sled keeping the throttle still, pull plugs and read.

Yea it does not make seance. It starts fine run fine idles fine.
Maybe it is just not using enough oil of to lean on oil? Would that do it?
